keikka

Kerava Jazz festival begins in the church and also ends there on Sunday 25.5. in the form of a jazz mass. It's already a tradition that Kerava parish arranges a jazz mass on the festival weekend as part of the normal ceremony.

Cantor Eija Repo and saxophonist Pentti Lahti have been collaborating in the church environment frequently in the past, and also this time they have formed an interesting group to perform the mass tunes.

The grand old man of the Finnish saxophone, Pentti Lahti, has always had an interest in playing with string musicians, for example with cellist Marko Ylönen some years ago. This time the collaboration takes place with viola da gamba player Mikko Perkola and baroque guitarist Jarmo Julkunen.

It's legitimate to expect high quality music from this interesting ensemble, composed of musicians from different musical backgrounds.

Eija Repo, organ, cantor in the mass
Pentti Lahti, saxophones
Mikko Perkola, viola da gamba and vocals
Jarmo Julkunen, baroque guitar
