Les Fleurs Noires
Tickets 27,50 / 22,50 €
The ten-strong Les Fleurs Noires is an orchestra of Argentinian and French musicians that defines its genre as 'tangos aumentados' – tango in new dimensions. The group gave its first performance in Finland in autumn 2025, wowing an international audience of music professionals at the WOMEX Worldwide Music Expo event in Tampere.
Les Fleurs Noires ('black flowers), which consists of female musicians only, creates new, fresh interpretations of the male-predominated tango tradition from Argentina. Tango music with its diverse roots takes on new timbers and forms of expression in the hands of Andrea Marsili, an Argentinian composer and pianist. Influences from other tone worlds are also included: experimental music, post-minimalism and jazz.
The audience can expect a unique, sensitive but intensive concert experience, in which two visiting soloists complement the orchestra: the strong interpretations of vocalist Mandy Lerouge and the rich rhythms of percussionist Vanesa García will add their unique spices to the bandoneon harmonica, piano and string instruments.
Duration 1 h 30 min, incl. intermission

The UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra plays Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s jazz arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece, The Nutcracker. Glittering winter forests, an enchanted marzipan castle, toys that miraculously come alive… The Nutcracker Tale is full of magic and exciting twists! The plot of The Nutcracker, one of Tchaikovsky’s most famous and acclaimed ballets, is based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s Christmas story. The ballet was premiered in December 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, and in 1960 Ellington and Strayhorn arranged and recorded their own interpretation of the beloved piece. The jazz adaptation has in recent years become a UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra’s Christmas tradition, which is now spiced up with a fairy tale.
Let yourself be carried away by the fairy tale – and jazz!
Doors open 30 minutes before the showtime. Duration c. 70 min, no intermission. The concert is suitable for the whole family, but especially with the smallest concertgoers, we recommend preparing for loud volumes with earmuffs or plugs.
