Jukka Perko is one of the few Finnish jazz artists who have managed to appeal to the elusive taste of the general audience. This applies to Perko's project Avara, too -- a trio that charms with their easy, disarmingly beautiful music.

Perko was handpicked by Dizzy Gillespie himself to join his big band on a tour. The year was 1987. Perko was lauded in reviews and comparisons to the legendary Charlie Parker were drawn. After that Perko has led his own groups and performed in more than 40 countries. His impeccable technique and distinctive style, where the tradition of jazz meets Finnish folk and choral music, has made Perko one of the most important saxophonists of his generation.

Avara -- a tight-knit trio -- features two virtuoso guitarists -- probably the two best that Finland has to offer -- alongside Perko: Teemu Viinikainen and Jarmo Saari. With these three gentlemen on stage, this will be a night to remember.
