Taco Bells turn 10! Building on the strong tradition of European improvised music with a generous amount of jazz references. Over the years, his tight-knit group has collaborated with such prominent free jazz names as Peter Brötzmann, Dylan Nyoukis and Martin Küchen. Recently the trio has collaborated intensively with Pekka Airaksinen, a pioneering Finnish free jazz name, who will also join them in this 10th anniversary concert.

Gypsy Jazz Night at Pjazza with host guitarist Tomi Kettunen. The evening will kick off with a short set given by the host and his guests, after which the stage is open for spontaneous jam sessions in the tradition of the great Django.

The Kymijoen Lohisoitto festival opening concert is a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the pioneering saxophonist, Eero Koivistoinen. This grand old man of Finnish jazz takes the stage alongside vocalist Johanna Iivanainen and UMO Jazz Orchestra, Finland's no. 1 big band. We will be in for a cross-section of Koivistoinen's big band works from over the years, plus a handful of funk numbers and new pieces composed specifically for the occasion.
