Mariana Zwarg Sexteto Universal celebrates the music of Hermeto Pascoal.

Universal music knows no boundaries and embraces both jazz and folkloric influences, especially traditional Brazilian rhythms.

Mariana is the daughter of Hermeto's bass player Itiberê Zwarg. She was practically born between the rehearsals and raised by the musical family of Hermeto. Godfather Hermeto saw Mariana right after she was born and since then he has been the guiding musical light for her, together with her father Itiberê. Hermeto even gave Mariana the precious saxophones he used to record his world famous albums since the 1970's!

Mariana Zwarg's arrangements of Hermeto's music as well as her own compositions create a very warm and festive energy in which the musicians as well as the audience can feel free to enjoy the moment. The idea is also to invite local musicians wherever they go, to share the musical party.

Mariana's band consists of international ”disciples” of universal music. The Finland Tour features on the piano the great international jazz star from Jyväskylä, Mr Joona Toivanen.

On stage of Haiharan Kartano Mariana Zwarg Sexteto Universal opens a musical Pandora's box filled with polyrhythms, joy and harmonic nuances for the audience to enjoy. The concert starts already at 16 hs so please come early to enjoy all the good stuff!

''The music I make today I call "universal music" because it contains all these different influences. We play everything. Except that we don't play
commercial music, and we won't play something because it's in vogue. We play because it's beautiful." Hermeto PascoalEsiintyjät:Mariana Zwarg Sexteto Universal "Celebrating the Universal Music of Hermeto Pascoal"
