Sole Azul is a quirky Finnish jazz/tango trio founded in 2017. With members from such bands as Elifantree, Harri Kuusijärvi Koutus and Mopo, Sole Azul came into being when accordionist Harri Kuusijärvi's instruments were stolen in Azul, Argentina. He decided not to be discouraged but set out to adapt Argentinian tango to Scandinavian folk and jazz aesthetics. We will also hear a handful of arrangements of Finnish classic folk songs.

Three adventurous virtuoso players and a host of influences -- this show will take you on a magical journey from Argentina to Finland and beyond!

Harri Kuusijärvi, accordion
Pauli Lyytinen, saxophone
Eero Tikkanen, double bass

Jazzia Jumalan armosta - A Juhani Aaltonen Evening
Interview by author Hannu Luntiala & duo concert with Aaltonen and pianist Heikki Sarmanto

This edition of the Validi Karkia club series will plunge into the life and music of Finnish jazz legend Juhani "Junnu" Aaltonen. The saxophonist will give a concert with his long-standing partner in music, the equally famous pianist Heikki Sarmanto, and before the show he will be interviewed by author Hannu Luntiala. Luntiala's biography of Aaltonen was published last year by Finnish Aviador Kustannus.

Come to witness two Finnish jazz heavyweights!
