Pianist Riitta Paakki, who plays in various ensembles, will be performing solo at the Malta House in Helsinki.

Paakki is Finland's first pianist with a doctorate in jazz music. Her visionary playing can be heard in many small ensembles, and of course, as a solo artist. Paakki creates music firmly rooted in traditional jazz, although spiced up with a modern twist. She composes a lot herself, and her music often carries a romantic atmosphere. The impression is usually subtle and ballad-like.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of their Jazzbasilli album, the jazz trio Herd and vocalist Aili Ikonen are coming together again for energetic and cheerful anniversary concerts.

The program, previously heard on a tour of over 50 concerts, includes updated versions of hits made famous by Laila Kinnunen, all with great respect for the originals. As the icing on the cake, the 10th-anniversary concerts will also feature new jazz and schlager arrangements.

Founded in 2009 and led by vibraphonist Panu Savolainen, the Herd trio quickly became one of Finland's most respected jazz bands. With their fresh ensemble sound, the charming trio has won prestigious competitions like the European Jazz Competition, performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, served as the house band for the Pori Jazz Festival in 2010, and hosted their popular HERD club at the National Theatre's Lavaklubi from 2012 to 2014.

Aili Ikonen is a versatile singer and songwriter known for her sensitive and masterful interpretations. Currently a member of the Rajaton vocal ensemble, Ikonen, who has released four solo albums, performs extensively with top contemporary artists and has been featured as a soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra, Sinfonia Lahti, and even at the Finnish Presidential Palace's Independence Day celebrations.

The delightfully unpredictable ensemble known for their improvisational prowess, F# feat. Pepa Päivinen, embarks on a tour organized by the Finnish Jazz Federation from October 11th to 21st. Having released their second album
Scientifically Proven & Clinically Tested in 2022, F# is full of surprises in live performances. In the concert, four esteemed and award-winning composers and musicians come together on stage, creating spontaneously exciting soundscapes, tight grooves, beautiful melodies, and captivating textures. The performances are often entirely improvised, with no preparations or prearranged steps. The ensemble keeps both the audience and themselves in suspense; musicians Sid Hille, bassist Jori Huhtala, drummer Markus Ketola, and woodwind player Pepa Päivinen stay on their toes, as anything can happen, and it invariably does.
