Jazz Finland Live

Tickets: 15 / 10€

In October, the guest soloist at the jazz clubs is the brilliant trumpeter Mikko Pettinen. The virtuoso will deliver an extensive tribute to pioneers of his instrument with the Jazz Jkl Collective.

Award-winning trumpeter Mikko Pettinen has led his own ensembles and worked in the music industry as a composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and conductor in various genres such as jazz, soul, hip-hop, and vocal music. Pettinen, who has been a permanent member of the UMO trumpet section since 1998, has participated in dozens of albums, from Anssi Kela to Paleface and Redrama to Kerkko Koskinen Kollektiivi. Some of Pettinen's current active ensembles include the Funky Finns and the Helsinki–Cotonou Ensemble.

As the guest soloist with Jazz Jkl Collective, Pettinen pays tribute to his favorite trumpeters. The concert will feature classics from the bebop, cool jazz, and hard bop eras of the 1940s to the 1960s, including recordings by Clifford Brown, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, and Kenny Dorham. In addition to these, Pettinen will interpret Chet Baker, even singing his songs.
