Ahead of International Jazz Day, Turku Jazz Orchestra welcomes one of Finland’s most expressive jazz artists as its guest soloist. Saxophonist Joonatan Rautio is a true master of Finnish jazz — a virtuoso whose dazzling technique is always in the service of musical depth, lyricism, and emotional power.

Prepared under the direction of conductor Mikko Hassinen, this concert highlights Rautio’s wide-ranging interpretive voice. Original jazz compositions by Rautio and Hassinen engage in a creative dialogue with beloved Finnish evergreens that have resonated across generations.
