Lassy – Eskola: Nordic Stew

Tickets: €15 - €67
Two leading Finnish musicians, saxophonist Timo Lassy (b. 1974) and trumpeter Jukka Eskola (b. 1978), join forces in their Nordic Stew project, bringing the vibrant spirit of New Orleans to the Savoy Theatre's album release concert. Alongside Lassy and Eskola, the stage will feature top musicians from the diverse jazz scene of New Orleans: pianist David Torkanowsky, bassist Roland Gueri, and drummer Jason Marsalis. The lineup is completed by Miika Jämsä on tuba.
Lassy and Eskola have collaborated since the 1990s, most notably in The Five Corners Quintet, the internationally successful Finnish jazz ensemble and a trailblazer for the jazz scene in the 2000s. Since then, both have pursued their solo careers. Their first joint project has been in the making for a while. In 2022, the friends finally realized their long-time dream and traveled to New Orleans to record an album of their own music with local jazz masters. The result is Nordic Stew, a blend of Lassy and Eskola's musical experiences infused with a deep love for the birthplace of jazz.
