Vid Šketa is a young up-and-coming trumpet player from Slovenia, currently based in Paris. His debut record First Step was released in Spring 2024, with the Ajabu! Records.

Vid began study jazz at a very young age, and has since then been diving into the art of jazz with the guidance of several teachers and musicians, including Igor Matković, Manuel Dunkel, Jukka Eskola, Jukkis Uotila, Jussi Lehtonen, Chuck Israels, Aaron Goldberg, Tim Hagans, Joe Magnarelli, Byran Davis, Philip Dizack. He studied at the Conservatoire of Music Ljubljana and finished the bachelor's degree in jazz music at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. During his years in Finland and Slovenia, Vid collaborated with some of the more notable big bands in those areas, Radio and TV Big Band Slovenia, UMO Jazz Orchestra, Euroradio Jazz Orchestra, Espoo Big Band. In addition, he has been and is working as a performing musician with many smaller groups, featuring various worldwide known and accomplished musicians. Since 2023 Vid has been living in Paris, playing and performing with top French jazz musicians, such as Alain Jean-Marie, David Sauzay, Paul Morvan and Clement Trimouille.

Marjo Leinonen, known for her distinctive, soulful, and life-infused voice, will be the welcomed guest soloist at Jazz JKL Collective's club!

Marjo Leinonen is a veteran figure in roots music, and her voice carries the weight of life experience and emotion. Throughout her extensive and diverse career, she has been a prominent figure in bands like Balls, Huff'n'Puff, and Bigfeet & Lala. Besides, Leinonen has engaged in various projects across different genres. In the realm of jazz music, her collaborators have included Jukka Perko, Seppo Kantonen, and Olli Soikkeli. Last year saw the release of the new album by Marjo Leinonen & BubliCans, as well as her autobiography, Punaisia päin, which recounts her eventful journey.

As a respected interpreter of blues and various forms of roots music, she will perform jazz standards – especially the music of Billie Holiday – and selected songs from her own discography as the featured guest soloist with Jazz JKL Collective.

Turku Jazz Festival ends with Sunday’s delicious jazz brunch in the company of a top trio! Olli Soikkeli has become one of the world’s most respected Gypsy jazz guitarists. Now he performs at the closing concert of the Turku Jazz Festival together with Grammy-awarded pianist Marian Petrescu and bassist Joonas Tuuri.

The brunch buffet table includes cold and warm food options as well as drinks and delicacies. A selection of gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan options is also available. A glass of sparkling wine is set for the tables, a non-alcoholic option is also available.
